Common Ground Worldwide has many opportunities to get involved, based on each individual's interests and abilities.  We welcome new folks who wish to serve as volunteers, interns, consultants, committee members, or partner organizations.  Below are examples of some ways to participate, and we welcome your creative ideas as well!

Volunteer at River Road Farm or Lawns-to-Food Community Garden

  • Water the crops, especially during summer

  • Serve as a garden host; open garden at regular weekly time and welcome the public to come in

  • Help at our occasional work-parties

  • Weed-control and garden beautification

  • Maintain compost piles

  • Build and install new educational signs, tool bench, planter boxes, etc.

  • Harvest & deliver produce to SLO County Food Bank 

  • Share your own idea for a special project, and we’ll see if we can help you bring it to fruition!

Outreach to Neighbors 

in Need

  • Join us in meeting and talking with people currently living on the streets

  • Become an “ally” to an individual person in our community and meet with this person regularly to offer companionship and a listening ear

Organizational Leadership

  • Volunteer to serve on our Board of Directors           (2 positions currently available)

  • Serve on a committee to help guide of one of our programs or projects

Grant Writing and Fundraising​​

  • research and compile a database of funding opportunities

 

  • Draft grant applications

  • Help organize fundraiser events

Public Relations and Outreach

  • Recruit new volunteers

 

  • Help maintain and update our website and social media accounts

 

  • Approach local congregations, student groups, and other organizations to invite their partnership with Common Ground Worldwide

Community Farm

  • Assist in efforts to publicize this new project and connect with local community members whom it will serve

  • Sign up for hands-on volunteer work (building and repairs, gardening, painting, etc.)

  • Get your hands dirty and volunteer at the farm!
